Greater Victoria hosts two organizations that have an agreement with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (recently renamed Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) to privately sponsor refugees as a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH): the Anglican Diocese of B.C. and the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria. The Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society also assists in refugee settlement.
This page was created in response to urgent need in early 2016 when a large number of refugees were scheduled for resettlement here in Victoria. Many of those privately-sponsored and government-assisted refugees have now arrived in the Greater Victoria area. Please visit https://refugeesforvi.wordpress.com for more information and regular updates. We will no longer be updating this page.
