The City of Victoria’s Municipal Elections on October 20, 2018 saw the re-election of City of Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps, Councillors Ben Isitt, Jeremy Loveday, Geoff Young, Charlayne Thornton-Joe, and Marianne Alto. Sharmarke Dubow, new Canadian citizen and Victoria B.C.’s first Somali Canadian to be elected to City Council, joined the other new Councillors Sarah Potts and Laurel Collins for their first swearing-in ceremony on November 1, 2018 in Council Chambers at Victoria City Hall. Lekwungen Traditional Dancers opened the ceremony.
